El YaqueOur Home BaseEl Yaque Along the shore, parallel to the wind streches a wide hip-deep area all the way from Kitebeach to the windsurf area. Here you find mostly smooth water to small chop. Sailing away from shore you will find more swell over a few miles (ca 6.5nm (12 km) to the next island) Enough room for everyone and a variety of conditions. Kitebeach can be reached in a few minutes with our shuttle. Here you find a great place to set up your gear, practice in a safe distance from the windsurf area. The most relaxed way of kiting: Take the shuttle to Kitebeach or Pelican beach, start from there and sail outside in the swell or enjoy a nice long "downwinder" back to El Yaque. Here you can land right in front of our center, the only place upwind from the windsurf area, and the only place where you can legally start and land your kites all day long. In the windsurf area, downwind from our center and in front of the hotels you are allowed to enjoy kiteboarding before 9:30 A.M. and after 5:30 P.M. This restriction is a rule all windsurf and kiteboarding clubs set up together in order to ensure safety for all beach and water users. Best time for kiting in El Yaque is from October to the end of July. During the months of February to May, wind can be very strong and a bit more gusty from midday on. Such days are perfect to explore some of the other spots around Margarita. From August to the end of September our wind gets often interrupted for one or more days by tropical depressions approaching the Carribean. However, the days with wind are then blessed with very constant conditions, nice to sail with bigger kites. Typical kite sizes for 176lbs/80kg: 14m2 40%, 10m2 40%, 8m2 10%, rest 10% HOME |
