Isla CubaguaAdventure & History in one TripCristal clear water, a beautiful beach and strong, steady wind are inviting you. As if this was not enough, Cubagua has also quite some history. Cubagua, later called "Nueva Cádiz" was one of the first settlements on the island and in the New World. Perl fishing made it quickly an important trade center for perls, slaves and more. Its glory lasted from 1499, when it started as a small village to 15 41 when, already a city, first a hurricane, then pirates and finally an earthquake brought unease and the end to the town. People moved gradually more and more to the islands Coche and Margarita. By 1857 finally all pearl oysters were gone and now only a few fisher huts and a half sunken ferry boat decorate the island. "Nueva Cádiz", since the earthquake under water, and the ferry as well as a little reef between the two are great places for snorkeling and can be visited in combination with our kiteboarding safari. Transfer ca. 45 min., day trip including food and drinks. Best time from January to June. Typical kite sizes for 176lbs/80kg: 16m2 10%, 14m2 40%, 12m2 35%, 10m2 15% HOME |
